BIUST national clean-up campaign

On Saturday, 9 May 2026, the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), through the collective efforts of its staff and students across various departments, together with members of the Khurumela community, successfully conducted the second leg of the university’s clean-up initiative in support of the ongoing Presidential National Clean-Up Campaign. The initiative forms part of BIUST’s social responsibility programmes aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness, sustainability, and community well-being.

Participants actively engaged in the collection and proper disposal of waste materials across designated areas within Khurumela Ward. The event was graced by the Kgosi of the ward, Ms Elizabeth Loso, who emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining clean and sustainable communities.

Speaking during the event, the ward Councilor, Mr Molaimang Nkganetsang, commended the strong collaboration between BIUST and the local community, highlighting the significance of partnerships in advancing national development initiatives. He further noted that such initiatives foster unity, volunteerism, and shared responsibility among community members.

The clean-up campaign not only contributed to improving the cleanliness of the area but also reinforced the spirit of civic engagement and environmental stewardship among participants.

BIUST remains committed to promoting environmental sustainability, civic responsibility, and meaningful community engagement through initiatives that contribute positively to national development.
