BIUST AND DRONES fOR AFRICA SIGNED AN MOU

The Botswana International University of Science & Technology and Drones for Africa recently signed an MOU. This collaboration and strategic partnership is critical for training and development partner to train students/stakeholders in a Remote Pilot/Drone Flying Pilot Certification course and other related advisory and consultancy services such as renewing the drone flying license, securing necessary commercial drone permits and helping prepare participants for drone flying tests.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Otlogetswe Totolo, expressed optimism about the partnership, highlighting “the drone industry presents significant opportunities for research, growth and innovation in various sectors of the economy including agriculture, mining, infrastructure development and medicine, just to mention but a few. As an institution committed to research and innovation, BIUST is continuously exploring ways to leverage emerging technologies to solve real-world problems and this partnership will come in handy along such endeavors”.

Prof Totolo commended Drones for Africa’s Managing Director, Ms Marang Mbaakanyi and her Team for having leveraged their education to create a successful business that is making a significant impact in Botswana’s economy.

Drones for Africa is a youth-owned citizen company that specializes on procurement and supply of Drone Hardware and Software; Remote Drone Pilot training; Drone Repair and Maintenance and Training as well as After-Sales support services.

“In addition to research, we will also collaborate on drone pilot training, where we can share knowledge and expertise to build capacity and improve the skills of drone pilots in the industry,” said Prof Totolo.
