The Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) recently hosted a four-day Leadership Transition and Strategic Alignment Retreat from 18–21 May, bringing together members of Executive Management and Senior Leadership. The retreat reflected the University’s renewed commitment to strengthening collective leadership effectiveness, fostering institutional cohesion, and enhancing strategic alignment across all levels of the organization.
The retreat provided a platform for robust discussions on operational excellence, sustainable growth, institutional strategic priorities, and performance alignment. Participants engaged in meaningful deliberations aimed at reinforcing BIUST’s long-term vision and positioning the University for continued success.
Delivering the keynote address, BIUST Council Chairman, Dr. H.K. Sigwele, emphasized the importance of continuity, innovation, and collaborative leadership in advancing BIUST’s mandate as a leading institution in science, engineering, and technology education in Botswana and beyond.
Dr. Sigwele further challenged the leadership team to work collectively towards positioning BIUST among the top ten universities in Africa by 2030. He underscored that achieving this ambitious goal would require an unwavering commitment to excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement.
The retreat concluded with a dinner that provided participants with an opportunity to reflect on the discussions and resolutions reached during the sessions, while also strengthening professional relationships and fostering collaboration among colleagues.
