The University is looking for qualified and experienced individuals for the position;
The position is based at BIUST Campus, Palapye. The successful candidate will be appointed on a pensionable or contract basis.
Main Purpose Of The Job
- To contribute to teaching within the department/School, this will include course development and innovation, lecturing, conducting seminars and supervising undergraduate and/or graduate students. To contribute to the University’s performance in research and innovation through publications and other mechanisms. To supervise students’ projects (both undergraduate and postgraduate levels). To conduct individual research or work on collaborative projects. To source external research funding from national and international donors. To do community engagement.
Qualifications:
A PhD in Physics from a recognized institution. Area of specialization: Materials Science.
Experience:
- Two years of post-doctoral experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry in the relevant field or discipline. However, two years post-doctoral relevant industrial/professional experience shall be equivalent to two years teaching experience
- Evidence of successful supervision of master’s graduate students or equivalent junior staff.
- Record of 8 publications in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent research output.
Competencies:
- Complete multiple assignments, maintain quality, work under pressure, and adhere to deadlines.
- Adhere to HR policies, practices, and procedures, and conform to professional standards and ethics.
- Apply interpersonal styles/methods to develop and motivate staff
- Conceptual and practical thinking.
