The Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST) has proven to be a hub of sports after the University staff members joined the rest of the Southern African Universities Staff Sports Association (SAUSSA) family at North West University in South Africa for the 22nd edition of their annual games and scooped first position in Chess and Volleyball men and 2nd position in athletics.
Participating under the Botswana International University of Science & Technology (BIUST), Staff, Sports and Recreation Association (BIUSTSSRA), staff members who went in large numbers displayed commitment, zeal and team spirit during the five-day sporting extravaganza comprising of a number of activities.
The SAUSSA Games featuring eight (8) countries aims to unite Southern African Universities through a mixture of sports, arts, and cultural activities. More than just a competition, the games are dedicated to fostering university collaborations and achieving that crucial work-life balance and to foster social cohesion through sports amongst member university staff members. The association also aims to help member universities take their rightful place in sports and recreation in the region, continent and beyond. Affiliating SAUSSA member universities are from Southern African countries namely Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
