BIUST refectory is outsourced to an independent catering company and there are BIUST arrangements for conducting the safety inspections in line with internationally acceptable food safety standard of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).  HACCP increases confidence in the safety of food products, it is recognized worldwide as the single most effective way to eliminate, reduce, or control hazards in any food handling situation. 

BIUST considers that foodborne diseases are a widespread public health problem, and an increased awareness of the economic consequences of foodborne disease.  It is also  important to establish effective HACCP programs, which addresses situations before they become a  problem some of these compliances include but are not limited to, compliance to public health regulations such as  medical exams for all food handlers.
