Life on Land
About SDG 15
Sustainable Development Goal 15 (Life on Land) aims to protect, restore, and promote the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems. It seeks to combat desertification, halt biodiversity loss, and ensure the conservation of forests, wildlife, soil, and other natural resources. Globally, this goal is essential for maintaining ecosystem services, supporting livelihoods, mitigating climate change, and sustaining biodiversity.
In Botswana, terrestrial ecosystems face increasing pressures from land degradation, climate variability, unsustainable land use, and habitat loss. Sustainable management and restoration of these ecosystems are crucial for preserving biodiversity, ensuring productive landscapes, and enhancing resilience to environmental change.
Context and BIUST’s Relevance
