A BIUST PUAP Manager, Bantsi awarded “Lee Kimche McGrath Award


The Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) is pleased to announce the recognition of the Pre-University & Academic Programmes (PUAP) Manager, Ms Leapotswe Bantsi by an international agency, the Association of Science Technology Centres (ASTC), based in the United States of America (USA).

Ms Leapotswe Bantsi has been nominated to receive the “Lee Kimche McGrath” award and among one of two African laureates awarded a grant of $2,500 as contribution for a travel and subsistence to attend an Association of Science –Technology Centres conference in Hartford, Connecticut in the USA from the 29th September to the 2nd of October 2018.

The award seeks to support pioneering professionals in the field of science education and science communication to participate in the Association of Science Technology Centres (ASTC). This year, the focus is on people who have proven commitment to science communication through their training and participation in the Science Circus Africa program.

Ms Bantsi has played a pivotal role in stimulating the interest in Science, Technology, and Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) across the pre-tertiary education sector, through staging STEM circuses, shows and festivals as a way of motivating potential learners in various districts in Botswana, from operational base in BIUST, Palapye.
