BIUST Alumi Network

The aim of BIUST Alumni network is to inform, engage and inspire alumni to stay connected to their alma mater, support its vision, strategy and contribute towards its success. With over 1, 000 alumni, BIUST has a national presence. We see great potential for collaboration with our alumni – working together to make a difference for fellow alumni and for current BIUST University students alike. The alumni network support the student experience and inspire gifts of philanthropy.

Re-connecting with the University through this network provides an opportunity for alumni to get involved with other alumni, share experiences and knowledge, and broaden their professional and personal networks.

Membership of the alumni community is extended to all those who successfully completed their studies (either undergraduate or post graduate degree) at the University, or in the case of international students, have completed a semester length study exchange program at the University. Former academic staff who have completed three years of service at BIUST, can automatically engage in appropriate alumni activities.

To develop a dedicated and committed cohort of BIUST alumni to support the institution in its quest to become a premier World university and become drivers of change.

To foster alumni who are supportive and engaged by actively contributing to the resource base and reputation of BIUST.

To transform the BIUST-alumni relationship by achieving the following objectives:

  • Build relationships and affinity groups and reach out to legacy alumni;
  • Develop a culture of alumni participation within the current BIUST student body;
  • Increase benefits and incentives for members; and
  • Introduce innovative programmes to build alumni commitment.

Our Focus Areas

The VIP Programme

It involves the engagement of high-profile alumni through events and peer-to-peer engagement. This drive should play a pivotal role in obtaining support from the University’s alumni for the development of the institution.

Goodwill Ambassador Programme

Volunteer services and support from prominent alumni are enlisted to advance the University’s strategic goals and those of its alumni. Click here to read more on our Goodwill Ambassadors.

Current Student Alumni Programmes

These programmes (current Student Alumni, Student Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Mentorship and Career Development) are meant to invest in young future alumni to capture interest and cultivate loyalty towards the institution during the period of study. Initiatives such as the Career Day Outings, Career Nights, Workplace Forums and Alumni Idols to name a few, provide a positive student experience and opportunities for student empowerment in various areas. BIUST Alumni offers a variety of educational support and skill-building programmes to help current and postgraduate students address the unique challenges and issues they face in life. Support resources include a job search facility, mentors from BIUST alumni, support from our BIUST alumni and BIUST Goodwill Ambassadors through Career Nights and Workplace Forums.

Database Management

Our goal is to have applications that interact with our alumni and other applications, and the database itself to capture and analyze data. Database management system will be updated to allow the definition, creation, querying, update, and administration of databases more effectively.

The ultimate goal is to support the advancement of BIUST through an active and vibrant alumni programme that plays a significant role in building internal and external relationships.

Marketing & Communication

The Alumni Office’s efforts provide a framework for delivering consistent, easily accessible and timely information that enhances and improves the University’s brand image. Our goal is to strengthen relationships with our alumni, students and their families, staff, local communities and benefactors.

The BIUST Alumni Network created a job search portal to assist alumni members and BIUST students looking for career opportunities. The system constantly scans all Botswana job websites to allow you to find new opportunities.

Regional & International Programme:

This involves the building of regional chapters and forums for BIUST alumni in the provinces of South Africa, SADC countries and internationally. Here BIUST alumni will develop mutual interest-specific programmes. They will also participate in programmes supporting the development of BIUST.

Alumni events are a great way for you to keep your social and professional connections with other alumni and the University strong. We offer a wide range of opportunities to socialize and network. Whether your interests are intellectual, social, or professional, we have an event for you.
