The Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) recently hosted a delegation from Penn State Global for the third partnership meeting between the two institutions, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening academic collaboration, advancing research initiatives, and expanding opportunities for international engagement.

The meeting brought together senior leadership and representatives from both institutions to review the progress achieved under the existing partnership and to explore strategic areas for future cooperation. Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in research, academic exchange, and community engagement while identifying new pathways for mutual growth and innovation.

A key area of discussion was the expansion of opportunities for faculty members, students, and researchers through international partnerships and mobility programmes. Both institutions emphasized the importance of fostering global academic networks that promote knowledge sharing, research excellence, and cross-cultural learning experiences.

Speaking during the meeting, Professor Goitseone Malumbela highlighted BIUST’s interest in undertaking a future visit to Penn State Global in the United States to further strengthen collaboration in the fields of materials science, energy, and mining research. He also underscored the potential for developing student exchange programmes that would provide learners with valuable international exposure and academic enrichment.

Prof Malumbela expressed appreciation for the partnership established with Penn State Global in 2024, noting the significant role international collaborations play in advancing BIUST’s strategic objectives and enhancing its global academic footprint.
